It is difficult to imagine a truly cozy and modern room, where guests are received and relaxed with the whole family, without a soft group. But do not place it along one wall, because there are many more ways to place it! In this article, we’ll show you how to arrange the sofa and armchairs in the living room.
L-Shaped
A corner arrangement is well suited to a room whose shape is closer to a square. The composition will look harmonious if the most significant object – in our case, a sofa – will stand along the axis of visual attraction: a fireplace or TV. You should place Two chairs on the side of it. Corner placement should be softened with a coffee table.
Feel free to dilute the furniture group with decorative pillows – this is an economical way to create color accents and diversify the environment.
Strictly Opposite to Each Other
Suitable for those who prefer geometry and clean lines. The option fits perfectly into the classic interior of the living room. A fireplace, TV, or library can be located to the side of the symmetrical composition. There is usually a coffee table in the center between the sofa and the armchairs. It is an excellent solution for semi-formal conversations or social gatherings.
The convenient distance between delicate pieces of furniture and the coffee table is at least 45 cm.
Armchairs on the Sides
If all pieces of furniture are located along one long wall in a narrow and elongated room, the room seems even cramped. Place the sofa along the wall and place the chairs on the sides around the coffee table. They can stand directly opposite each other or be slightly turned towards the sofa. This is a traditional, time-tested option.
Do not seek to purchase a set of upholstered furniture: it looks commonplace and therefore outdated. Let the furniture unite one thing – a similar design or overlapping elements. The color of the upholstery of one item can repeat the shade of the ornament on the armchairs and vice versa.
Asymmetrically
At first glance, a chaotic arrangement may be associated with clutter but with the right approach. You can optically mask the compact size of the living room. First, select the center of the composition and then arrange the auxiliary objects.
Balance the sofa with two chairs placed diagonally from it. The couple should not stand strictly opposite each other. Let the table separate them, and the passage remains free. This arrangement brings an atmosphere of habitability and lightness, conducive to conversation, and gives a feeling of carelessness.
Separately
You have a sofa, two armchairs, and an elongated room. Under these conditions, it is easy to divide the living room into zones and place a large sofa against a long wall, and put two chairs at a distance, opposite each other. This way, you can easily create two seating areas: one can become a home theater and a corner for reading and talking.
The Letter “P”
The option is suitable for living rooms, where two sofas and two armchairs fit. They are placed opposite each other in the form of the letter “P,” and one side of this rectangle remains open. Sofas can be angled or mirrored, but the most harmonious option is when a massive object stands in front of a TV, fireplace, or aquarium.
If the living room is not impressive in size, but you need a lot of seating, use a corner sofa with legs or two compact sofas and ottomans and armchairs with a laconic design.
Two Cozy “Corners”
This unusual option is only suitable for spacious rooms. Usually, such imposing rooms are challenging to make cozy, so you should resort to zoning. If you put two sofas with their backs to each other and the chairs – one for each corner, there will be two seating areas. Mirror arrangement will add order to the interior.
The scale of the composition is based on the size of the room, and the design of furniture is based on the style of the interior.
