• Step 1. Take a square-shaped sheet of paper. If they are one of the ones you usually use in your printer, it is probably letter, legal or A4 size.
• Step 2. To turn your rectangular sheet into a perfect square, take one of the vertices and fold it toward the opposite vertex of an imaginary diagonal.
• Step 3. Cut the excess paper with scissors, as you can see in the image.

• Step 4. Next, retrace your steps to unfold the square.
• Step 5. Fold the square in half both ways.
• Step 6. Fold the diagonals again.
• Step 7. Fold the corners of the square without reaching the center of it. In this way, an 8-sided polygon will forms, as you can see in this other image. Keep in mind that for the octagon to be regular, its 8 sides must be the same.

• Step 8. Take scissors and cut along the contour of the 8-sided polygon that has been delimited.
