Design and Canvas
The Moto G9 Play brings a look that has become common in the industry, characterized by the screen with reduced edges and notch in the shape of a drop on the top to house the front camera. The design of the Galaxy A51 is more refined: it has smaller borders and a front camera inside the screen , resulting in a better use of the front. Despite bringing panels of the same size, Samsung’s cell phone is smaller and lighter.
The Galaxy A51 should also outperform the Moto G9 Play in display quality. While the Motorola phone has a 6.5-inch LCD screen with HD + resolution , the Galaxy has a Super AMOLED panel known for the best contrast and colors, and Full HD + definition. Therefore, the Galaxy A51 tends to deliver a superior experience when watching videos and displaying texts for reading.
Cameras
The Moto G9 Play has everything to do better in less lit environments, as it has a 48 MP sensor and a larger aperture (f / 1.7). The Motorola cell phone, however, is left with an ultra wide lens and its additional cameras have sensors with less megapixels, of only 2 MP for macro and 2 MP for depth sensor.
The Galaxy A51 features a 48 MP main camera that combines four pixels in one to try to compensate for the f / 2.0 aperture , considered weak by today’s standards. The smartphone also has a 12 MP ultra wide camera for more open photos, a 5 MP macro and a 5 MP auxiliary camera for portrait mode , a famous feature that blurs the background of the image.
At the front, the Galaxy A51 again tends to deliver better results, as it brings a 32 MP sensor for selfies, against 8 MP of the Moto G9 Play.
Performance and Storage
The Galaxy A51 features a Samsung Exynos 9611 processor, an octa-core chip that reaches a speed of 2.3 GHz and promises to be able to run most Android apps and games without any problems. The same goes for the Moto G9 Play, as the Snapdragon 662 ( Qualcomm ) up to 2 GHz should not be far behind, at least in everyday tasks.
Both have 4 GB RAM. It is worth remembering that Motorola’s lower resolution screen requires less effort to run games, for example. However, neither smartphone is suitable for heavier tasks, such as games with realistic graphics.
In terms of storage, the Galaxy A51 takes the lead by offering 128 GB, double the 64 GB of the Moto G9 Play. Both phones also have a microSD card slot up to 512 GB to expand the data space.
Battery
The Moto G9 Play should be ahead in terms of autonomy. In addition to having a more economical screen, the Motorola phone features a 5,000 mAh battery , larger than the Galaxy’s 4,000 mAh component. As a consequence, the Moto G9 Play tends to outlast the 20 hours of video playback promised by Samsung. Both are also compatible with fast charging.
Android Version
The phones leave the factory with Android 10 and are candidates to receive Android 11 soon. Samsung, for example, has already released the update calendar and the Galaxy A51 is one of the smartphones covered with the latest system from Google . Motorola has also announced the phones that will receive Android version 11 and the Moto G9 Play is on the list.
While running the same software, they bring some of the same features and privacy protection . On the other hand, they have exclusive functions from each manufacturer, such as Samsung’s Safe Folder and gestures to turn on the camera and turn on Motorola’s flashlight with Moto Actions.
Additional Resources
The main feature of the Galaxy A51 is the Digital TV function that allows you to tune open HD channels without the need for internet. The smartphone also features a digital reader integrated into the display and NFC for payments by approximation . The Moto G9 Play, on the other hand, has the traditional digital player on the back and has neither NFC nor Digital TV. Both also feature Bluetooth 5.0 and support for two phone chips.
